Ans: ELCONN’s ELUMAX & NUCLEUS Energy (Power) Saving Equipments are designed to conserve energy on your mixed load when connected to series outlet to a circuit panel of your main supply (without any change in your existing connection). It constantly monitors the load connected to all of your equipments & calculates the exact amount of power required at any time, reducing the amount of electricity used. - How can we make sure that we are actually saving on the consumption after ELCONN’s System is installed?
Ans: The savings in energy consumption will become obvious as soon as ELCONN’s System is switched on. The ELTRAK TM - Energy Monitoring System can be installed in your Lan/Computer Connection. The ELTRAK TM - Energy Monitoring & Management System will reflect the increase & decrease in the current being drawn (consumption pattern) and therefore the System’s Savings. This is on real time basis. Further the same set of measurement can be taken with ELCONN’s System on Saving & Non-Saving Mode results are apparent. ELCONN’s models are equipped with their own ELTRAK - Energy Monitoring System. - What is ELTRAK TM - EMS ?
Ans: ELTRAK TM - EMS is a complete Energy Monitoring System software which allows you to monitor the power consumption loads at any given time from any location and helps to generate different reports. It also includes Energy Savings of ELCONN’s System report on day to day basis.
- How does ELTRAK TM - EMS help track electricity utilities?
Ans: Eltrak TM - EMS not only helps in Monitoring Electrical parameter like KWH Consumption minute wise, but also monitors current & voltage profile phase wise. It also monitors the power factor, KVA & KVAR ratings maintained in each phase & much more.
- What type of reports does ELTRAK TM - Energy Monitoring System print?
Ans: ELTRAK TM - Energy Monitoring System prints all types of power reports & saving reports. These reports can be scheduled for automatic email, print, backup & restore options. It also prints reports on actual Power Consumption, Power Distribution, List of Alarm situations/ conditions, Historical Trends/Graphs, area-wise and section-wise consumption over a period.
- Can we overview the data of our consumption pattern on day to day basis i.e. department wise, section-wise & save in our computer?
Ans: Yes, the ELTRAK TM - - EMS gives a detailed analysis of your power quality, Maximum Demand (MD), Billing Demand, Power v/s Production, Real Time Trends, Historical Graphs, Chart Log Sheet & configurable Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
- Can ELTRAK - Energy Monitoring System (EMS) provide web base reporting Software?
Ans: Eltrak TM - Energy Monitoring System can access real time data from the electrical utility of your organization through the internet. The entire report as per set parameters can be viewed from any remote location by anyone authorized to do so. In the event of an alarming condition, the system can be programmed to send an SMS alert to a designated mobile phone number.
- Do you guarantee the Savings?
Ans: Yes, We do. If all consumption pattern remains as they were at the time of Survey/Audit and design, based on conditions addressed in “ELCONN Performance Savings Chart” we guarantee the “Savings indicated on the Savings Profile”. If we fail on our commitment we will pay you back the difference.
- How is ELCONN System’s savings calculated?
Ans: In order to calculate the savings in kilowatts hour/Kwh achieved in installing ELCONN’S System. The simple calculation is as follows :Total load in KW x % of Saving = KW in Savings.
KW in Savings x days per year x hour per day = KWH Savings per day Units/KWH Savings per year x rate per unit = Savings per year.
- How do you evaluate the performance of the ELCONN’s System on our Load Factor?
Ans: The changes in load factor occur due to changes in consumption pattern i.e. changes in duration of electricity usage, during holidays in a week and meeting, conference in your Organization etc. Since the performance is based on consumption pattern, hence the system constantly monitors the load connected to all your equipments and calculates the exact amount of power required at any time reducing the amount of electricity used.
- How does ELCONN’s System calculate exact amount of power reduced in our Load Factor?
Ans: ELCONN’s System measures each phase’s load factor & eliminates the wasting factor like variation in voltage, harmonics filtering, unbalancing in phase voltage & in current, improve the power factor by reducing reactive & apparent power.
- How do you conduct the measurement of “ELCONN’s Saving Profile”?
Ans: ELCONN’s System are equipped with their own ELTRAK - Energy Monitoring System on Installation of ELTRAK - Energy Monitoring System and data logging Software for each system for accurate measurement & verification of Savings.
The measurement conducted at Site comprises of the following indices :-
- Voltage of each phase and the average three phase voltage.
- Current of each phase and the average three phases current.
- Active power consumed per phase & the total three phases active power.
- KWH consumed per phase and the total threes phase KWH.
- PF of each phase and the average three phases Power Factor.
- KVA of each phase and the average three phases KVA.
- KVAR of each phase and the average three phases KVAR.
- Harmonic of each phase and the average Harmonics of three phases.
- What is the Percentage contribution of different factors that contribute to the overall savings?
Ans: The Standard decisive position conclusion can be drawn regarding all claimed benefits by the maker of the ELCONN’s System comprise the following indices :-

- How much does ELCONN’s ELUMAX & NUCLEUS System Cost?
Ans: The payback period for ELCONN’s System has been less than one year. That is to say that the Savings generated by the system will pay for the system in less than one year. Pay back is affected by your KWH cost, current power factor and consumption level among other variables. Since the system is custom designed for each client, with their own “Savings Profile”(depend on connected Electric parameters) a final Quotation/Price can only be prepared after the Survey/Audit are taken & analyzed.
- What are the Payment Facilities & its terms?
Ans: Payment is made through Purchase Order to our Company. The terms of purchase agreement are 50% when the order is placed, 30% when the equipment is received at your premises/site and the remaining 20% is paid within 60 days of the equipment been installed and projected savings has been verified (If saving projections are not met, the difference is credited against the final payment).
- How does ELCONN’s System reduce the KW–Demand & KWH?
Ans: The utility meter reads the highest phase reading or area under the Curve/Sine wave and identifies all the energy under the Curve/Sine wave. ELCONN’s System reduces KW Demand and KWH through the following:
- Optimizing and improving voltage profile, thereby increasing system efficiency and reduced running temperature of the load.
- Balancing the three phases based on X/R, thereby reducing negative voltage sequence and circulating currents and improving system efficiency.
- Filtering surges, transients, and broadband harmonics, thereby reducing True RMS component of power losses, thereby increasing system efficiency.
- Improving Power Factor, thereby increasing system efficiency while reducing distribution losses.
- If ELCONN’s System fails, will we lose the Electricity Utility?
Ans: No. Provisions are taken so that it would be almost impossible for the Elconn to fail completely, disrupt or jeopardize the Electrical Utility Operation because of parallel installation(s) both internally and externally. Should there be an unlikely event of failure of ELCONN’s System, it is designed to isolate itself immediately from the electrical system. (from Saving Mode to Direct Mode).
- How is the System’s Capacity decided?
Ans: We actually do the survey & measure your electrical load/during the course of normal/peak load operation. We than collect copy of your past twelve/six months electricity bills to draw a concise picture of the premises load profile. From this information, we determine both the electrical characters as well as
Load behavior. We also note your electricity bills Contract Demand , Maximum Demand (MD) Billing demand, Sanctioned Load in KVA rating for the last one year /six months bills & select the month which has the Maximum Demand recorded in KVA.
After we evaluate this information and upon the acceptance, we run the link Analysis of each panel circuit. This information determines our exact approach to address all of the problems & improvement for your Electricity Utility. We than program the data in our System regulator, which then reacts to the plant/premises load conditions.
- What happens when our Electrical Load changes or increases? How will ELCONN’s System cope with these changes?
Ans: ELCONN’s Systems are designed to address the facilities to normal load at the time of measurement or design. Within these parameters the system will operate. If the load increases beyond the designed criteria, you have to upgrade or exchange it for the bigger size, to address the plant or building or office area’s increased load without major capital expenditure.
- Does ELCONN’s System itself consume power?
Ans: Very negligible, losses recorded to 0.002% Watts per KVA, when ELCONN’s System is turned on.
- Do we need individual unit for each Chiller, Water Pump, AHU, Lighting Load, Elevator, Escalator, Air Conditioner, Air Compressor Security System, Xerox Machine, Computer, Fridge & TV ?
Ans: Not necessarily, as ELCONN’s System is designed for Mixed Type Load.
- Do you charge for the Survey/Audit/Measurement in our premises/building/plant of Electricity Utility?
Ans: No, we take the measurement readings “Free of Cost”.
- Is it essential to take measurement/reading in our premises/plant/building?
Ans: We take the measurement/readings “Free of Charge”. From the measurement data taken, we are able to point out the areas in your Plant/Premises/Building/Office area where energy is being wasted. This information and related electrical readings/data will be analyzed and from which a comprehensive computer generated report will result. In conjunction with the technical information, we include a cost/payback schedule. At the time of our presentation, we will go over the entire report with you, answering any and all of your questions. If you wish, your engineering staff or utility representatives may be present at that time, to help verify our claims and projected savings.
- Is ELCONN’s System also a Power Factor Corrector System?
Ans: ELCONN’s System is not a Power Factor Corrector System although it improves power factor incrementally. In fact we do not calculate any possible power factor charges as savings towards the payback.

- What happens to our APFC Power Factor Panel, if ELCONN fails or isolates from the circuit?
Ans: Your power factor will return to its original conditions if ELCONN’s System too fails and takes itself off your system.
- After Installing ELCONN system do we still need Capacitor Bank?
Ans: Yes, you need Capacitor Bank /APFC panel for maintaining PF to unity. By maintaining unity power factor you can get 7% incentive from the Service Provider.
- Should we continue using our capacitor Bank/APFC after we have Installed ELCONN’s System?
Ans: Yes. ELCONN’s System incrementally increases the power factor, it does not eliminate the need of Capacitor Bank/APFC panel.
- Our Capacitor Bank/APFC Panel have also reduced Amps in many electricity utility, therefore can we achieve saving in our KWD & KWH?
Ans: Capacitors only cause reactive amps reductions therefore they can never reduce KWD & KWH. On other hand ELCONN’s System reduces both the reactive and resisting amperage while optimizing voltage, reducing losses, surges, transients and harmonics with no adverse effects. Hence ELCONN’s System reduces the KWD & KWH.
- How can harmonics damage the equipments and how do we know that we have harmonics?
Ans: Harmonics are by-product of nonlinear loads, such as Computers, Printers, UPS Systems, Security Systems , Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), Electronic Ballasts and other such nonlinear loads, which are present in most installations. Harmonics are multiple integers of the line frequency; the third harmonics multiplies the line frequency by 3, and the fifth by 5, and the seventh by 7. It is understood that third, fifth, seventh, eleventh and thirteenth harmonics pose a real problem in industry. They can dramatically distort the voltage waveform supplied to motors, lighting, computers and equipment generally within the installation. They can also increase KW Demand and KW meter registrations, usually by a few percentage points. In a nutshell, harmonics can contribute to an increase in KW Demand and KWH, while distortion of the voltage waveform can cause failure of equipment and machinery.
- What type of harmonics can ELCONN’s System Filter?
Ans: The standard ELCONN’s System can filter third harmonics up to an acceptable level.
- Does ELCONN’s System filter harmonics coming from the incoming HT side?
Ans: If the System is connected at the main circuit panel it will filter all types of harmonics to an acceptable level.
- Can ELCONN’s System arrest the harmonics, if they are generated at load Centre?
Ans: ELCONN’s System prevents the harmonics generated by specific equipments from going upstream.
- Does the project cost include installation?
Ans: The project cost quoted does include installation also. We have a Licensed Electrician who can perform the installation. He can also work in conjunction with your maintenance staff.
- How much space does the ELCONN’s System occupy?
Ans: The size of 1200 KVA ELCONN’s System is 1800mm x 800mm x 2000 mm (H x D x W) approximate i.e. 6 feet x 3 feet x 6 & ½ feet including input & output of Bus Bar & Terminals. ELCONN, due to its modular structure can be custom built to meet any space limitations.
- Can we have one or two ELCONN’s System/s if we have 5 transformers in our facility?
Ans: Yes, you will have to purchase ELCONN’s System, individually for each transformer.
- Why is ELCONN’s System design based on the Measured Load and not on the Transformer’s Maximum Load or Standard Load?
Ans: ELCONN’s System is designed and manufactured based on Measured Load to ensure optimum savings, quality of power and other benefits. Also, the cost will be cheaper than based on the transformer's full load as such load may not be there
- Can the ELCONN’s System be used in high voltage application?
Ans: Yes, ELCONN’s System can be used on voltages from 220 V up to 245 V, but due to high potential present, ELCONN cannot provide its linear response by means of switching the stages as it performs in low voltage applications. As a result, its effectiveness and savings will be smaller in magnitude as compared to low voltage applications.
- What voltage rating can ELCONN’s System be designed for?
Ans: It can be designed to meet voltage rating of 380, 415, 440 or other set rating.
- Can ELCONN System replace (i) Voltage Stabilizer & (ii) Power Conditioner Equipment?
Ans: ELCONN is a system that does more than (a) and (b) added up together. So instead of buying several systems for your Plant/Site just get ELCONN’s System which can solve most of your electrical problems.
- Can ELCONN’s System stabilize the voltage when fluctuation variation ranges from 360v to 480v?
Ans: ELCONN’s System cannot stabilize the voltage of such a wide fluctuation variation but is able to narrow the gap of fluctuation.
- Which is the best place to Install ELCONN’s System to be more effective & economical?
Ans: The best & most effective place is to install ELCONN’s System as close as possible to the Load Centre/ Main Circuit Panel.
- Do we need to shutdown the Plant/Electricity Utility Load Center at the time of Installation?
Ans: Yes, Shutdown is required for 1-6 hours minimum depending upon the capacity of the system, at any given point of time, from your end.
- Is tuning necessary for Energy Saving Percentage or is there an automatic tuning?
Ans: ELCONN’s System is pre-tuned according to the Measured Load of each transformer during the time the unit is manufactured. Subsequent calibration is required only if ELCONN’s System is not functioning at its optimum.
- What is the life expectancy of ELCONN’s System?
Ans: Nominal life expectancy of the system, by design, is 30 years. However, as all other electrical components are apt to perform differently; a component failure will be isolated to its own stage, while the remaining ELCONN System’s stages continue to function.
- What if any of the components fail after some period of use?
Ans: ELCONN’s System is an integrated system and each stage is independently protected and operated. In case of failure of a stage, the remaining stages will not be affected and will continue to operate, minus the stage with the component failure problem. The components consist of standard and specified ones. In either case, you will be able to obtain them from number of sources (market), if the need should arise.
- Do we need an engineer to come and repair if any of the components fail?
Ans: Not necessary, most of the components are available in the open market and can be installed/replaced by your qualified Electrician.
- Will we be provided the details of the Components used in ELCONN’s System?
Ans: Yes, if required but only after we have delivered the unit to you and within the warranty period.
- If we move operation of the location, can the same ELCONN’s system be used?
Ans: Yes, however, due to different voltages and electrical installations/layout, your ELCONN’s System will not give you the 100% benefits as you were originally enjoying.
- Will ELCONN’s System cause tripping of my Plant/Office premises after installed?
Ans: This has never happened with previous installation nationwide and in Mumbai for the past 3 years. If there is a fault in ELCONN’s System, it cuts itself off and isolates itself from the rest of the Electricity Utility.
- What kind of load is recommended/benefits ELCONN’s System features?
Ans: All kind of Loads (Commercial & Institutional) these includes Chillers, AHU, Water Pumps, Escalators, Lifts, Computers, Printers, UPSs, Lightings, Air-conditioners (Split/Window/Package Type), Coffee Wending M/cs & Security Systems, etc.
- Can ELCONN’s System be used in large area consuming power in the range of 5000 KVA & above?
Ans: Yes, this is because ELCONN Systems are custom-designed to match each individual load.
- What is the effect of ELCONN’s System on DC Load?
Ans: Elconn’s System is specifically designed for AC three phase loads, therefore the benefits for DC loads are very negligible.
- Does ELCONN’s System take care of distortion coming in from the Primary Side of the transformer?
- Can ELCONN’s System benefit Single Phase Loads?
Ans: Single Phase Loads converted to a three phase load will benefit from the ELCONN’S System. However, the system does not specially address Single Phase Loads.
- What is the smallest size of the ELCONN’s System that is available?
Ans: Subject to economy of scale the smallest size can cater for a load drawing is that 36 KVA i.e. 50 Amps.
- Is ELCONN’s System legally permitted from the Service Provider as an Energy Saving Equipment?
Ans: Yes, ELCONN’s System is tested and certified by Electronics Regional Test Laboratory, (West) Govt. of India, Ministry of Communication & Information Technology (ERTL), MSEB, IDEMI & in L & T PEL Department, Powai, Mumbai as well.
- Is there a special depreciation allowance for using ELCONN’s System?
Ans: Yes, 80% depreciation in the first year itself U/s 32 of Income Tax Act -1962. Users are given allowances to encourage the purchase of Energy Saving Equipment because the Country’s power generation companies will have improved power quality and additional availability of power released to the other areas/cities.
- Does ELCONN’s System take care of frequency fluctuation?
- KWH meter is connected on the HT side how can it be benefitted on LT side?
Ans: Whatever load is consumed on the LT side, it is registered at the HT side. When the load is reduced at the LT side, the KWH meter will naturally register a lower reading on the HT side.
- Is ELCONN’s System designed for Gas, Coal, Nuclear, Hydroelectric Energy?
Ans: It does not matter what type of energy source is used. ELCONN’s System will do the job it is designed for.
- If the Primary side of the transformer is receiving 420 Volt can ELCONN’s System reduce it to 415 Volts on the Secondary side or any of the desired voltage?
- If we add more load/machines or shift the load/machine’s location, will it affect ELCONN’s System?
Ans: By adding more load, ELCONN’s System will not be harmed. However, the effective performance will be limited to that portion of the load that ELCONN’s System, was designed for. Beyond that, the extra module(s)/components need to be added to the original ELCONN’s System in order to compensate for the additional portion of the load, based on its characteristics. ELCONN’s System is assembled in a modular formation so it can easily be disintegrated to smaller units, to satisfy dispersion of the load.
